About Whyyy | Artist Statement

Whyyy (黃偉華) is a graffiti artist since 2001 and he is now based in ShenZhen, GuangZhou and Hong Kong.

“’Fortune cloud’ is the theme for my work. It combines the tradition culture arts and the new wave graffiti style as a break through associating with the chemicals. I use the concept and techniques in the arts of graffiti, and by adding the creative font, and shape. My fonts are always extending which reflects the rhythmical or metrical structure within and underlying. From different perspectives, my work could be view as hypostatic or delusional, it could be two-dimensional or three-dimensional. Moment by moment, it never stops changing, just like the cloud in the sky.” - Whyyy

於2001年開始從事噴漆繪畫藝術創作。以＂中國祥雲＂作為涂鴉與中國文化傳統結合作為突破點，從而產生新的化學作用。當中利用涂鴉理念和技法，加以通過創造新字體，構成獨樹一幟的個人風格。其中圖形、字體強調的扭曲變形富含了節奏的韻律感和張力的變化延伸。因此作品呈現出來的效果，既是實體的，亦是虛無的；是平面的，亦是立體的。一切就如雲一樣，捉磨不定，處在不停變化之中，從而產生不一樣繪畫思緒。

致力在傳統噴漆繪畫的基礎上，運用設計理念搭配不同的媒介再創作，堅持以一種更深層的思維模式來呈現這項藝術的特質。注重視覺上的美感塑造和空間協調性。在通過不斷的思考和實踐積澱歷程上，旨在將項藝術形式融伸到人們的生活與環境中去，賦予生活與環境具有當代精神和獨特藝術氣息。
