Rex Koo was born in 1977 at Hong Kong, graduated from University of Salford (Manchester UK) with a graphic design degree in 1999. Rex has been working in graphic design for more than a decade, his work involves a massive amount of local music albums and movie poster design. Also he was one of the participating artists in Camper(2013), Nike Hong Kong (2012), Homeless Dictator (Finland 2008), Get It Louder (China 2007) and The Place Project (Barcelona 2005). Rex believes graphic design aesthetics could some-times be cold, rational and calculational; while painting comprehends the devotion of feelings, and that could be irrational and unrestrained.
At one point in his creative life, Rex once tried to incorporate hand- drawn element into his graphic design, until 2013, Rex once again changed his direction and decided to use vector graphic, which is the most common way of working in graphic design, to create a series of portrait named "Simple People". The series also tried to fully explore the possibility of the use of different media such as screen printing, woodcrafting, fashion printing and more to experiment possible diversity of his work. Series has been meeting great response upon announcing.
