About the Artworks

Trifolium Belle Epoque

2013 / Wall Relief / Medium: Stainless Steel, Spotlights / Dimensions: Variable

A commissioned piece created exclusively for Perrier-Jouët’s Enchanted Garden.

The installation features various insects buzzing around a tree, all cut from stainless steel sheets. The tree-like clover branches with blossoming anemone flowers entwine along the wall as graphical objects that are enlivened by its surroundings, with reflections created through light and movement. The shiny metal leaves capture light, colour and movement from within the space. At the same time their mirror surfaces reflect a delicate floral pattern of light onto the ground. Three dimensional butterflies and dragonflies flutter between the exuberant leaves – some exist only in halves, one wing on one half of their body. These creatures come to life through interactions with their environment, and it is the reflections of light and shadows that complete their bodies. Thus, the threefold elements of the insects’ shapes: metal, light and shadow create an illusion of positive and negative as if they are alive.

The stainless steel invitation card and pendant are also designed and created by the artist, exclusively for Perrier-Jouët’s Enchanted Garden.

In Clover

2008 / Wall Relief / Medium: Stainless Steel, Spotlights / Dimensions: Variable To ‘live In Clover’ means to live in ease and luxury. The wall installation is inspired by Chinese ink paintings, depicting richly detailed flora and fauna that are concurrently stylised, with vacant spaces to create an exciting aesthetic of positive and negative, the ying and yang of nature. In Clover is a composition with a suggestion of spring and vitality, at the same time conveying how opposites only exist in relation to each other in the natural world.
