WONG Chun-keung . He was born in Guangzhou and migrated to Hong Kong at the age of six. Due to the facts that his mother was affected by Poliomyelitis since he was young and that his childhood was spent in Sham Shui Po, an old district in Hong Kong, WONG has built up appreciation on deteriorated fragments that surround him. He feels sentimental towards neglected images that people echo with and uses photography to capture beauty that comes from things being imperfect.
WONG likes to pick up discarded objects and to imagine that these objects carry many secretive histories. Subsequently, through reconstructing them, he creates a way to bring out the beauty of imperfections. Expressions of humour which contradict with the subject are created with intention through the use of vibrant colours as well as eye-catching fluoro colours.
Wong is particularly interested in understanding the relationships between human beings, spaces and living environments. These elements have inspired the artist to march forward boldly in order to fulfill his dreams.

街上的睡眠者 是2009年開始的一個隨意項目進行到現在，不斷地嘗試和變化，由於經常在深水埗拍攝，看見途人在街上睡眠，便有莫名其妙的衝動，拿起相機拍照，其後延伸到其他地方拍攝，拍的時候，腦海會不斷思考著他們的事，如：他們是否沒有家？他們是累才在這裡小睡？這樣不安全的環境他們也可以入睡？他們有在街上發夢嗎？
睡眠 – 是人生存的基本條件之一，他們無論是什麼原因在街上睡著，也是在爭取他們的生存空間
香港 – 這樣發展極速的城市，有這樣的社會現象，是所有發展極速的城市也有？還是香港獨有？
曾經因為朋友的推動 到文化中心睡了半年(每個星期三)Street Sleeper
Street Sleeper is an on-going spontaneous project since 2009. Seeing many street sleepers in Shum Shui Po while working, an impulse of curiosity made me started the project and now has been extended to different corners in Hong Kong. The project will continue to be evolved.
Do they have a home? Are they taking a break from a walk? Do they sleep well in such condition? Do they also dream while sleeping on the street? Sleep, is a basic need for survival. Regardless of the reason why they sleep on the street, they are striving for a spot for living/survival.
Homeless situation only happens in such rapid developing cities like Hong Kong? Or is it a common phenomenon among other countries as well? Motivated by a friend of mine, I became a street sleeper at Hong Kong Cultural Centre, every Wednesday for an half year.
