Elsie Wong
Elsie Wong was born and raised in Hong Kong. A graduate of Visual communication from Hong Kong Poly U, she works mainly with simple graphic illustrations, delicate watercolour paintings and minimal prints.
She has been working in London since 2009, where her love of nature keeps her exploring the hidden places in the city. It is those encounters with the changing seasons which keep her continually inspired.
Several years ago, I started my life in London. Everything is still very fresh and interesting to me. I love how green London is. It is a busy city and yet I feel so close to the nature. I love watching the seasons change, seeing the trees transform, the birds and squirrels in the parks, foxes around my neighbourhood and interesting houses all around the city.
Most of the time, I feel like everyone else in London, going to work in a crowded train, having lunch in the park on a sunny day. Sometimes I feel quite detached, as if I am looking into a strange city, which is not by any means related to me.
INSIDE OUTsider is a series of drawings about things, creatures and people I encounter throughout my life in London. This is also a record of how I see things as an insider as well as an outsider.
